If you’ve been keeping up with the economy, you know that tariffs have shaken up the pricing of imported goods—including the materials we use for costumes. But don’t worry, we’ve got a plan to keep costs reasonable and flexibility high for our customers.

Our Business & The Perks of Our Location

Since launching our brands in 2013, we’ve grown beyond a single dance studio into a thriving hobby-business. Being close to two major West Coast Garment Districts has been a game-changer. We’ve been able to access manufacturer overstock, warehouse direct deals, and bulk purchases that help us keep our inventory strong—without the tariff price hikes.

What We Have on Hand

We’ve built up a stash of performance spandex, power mesh, burlesque mesh, appliqué materials, feathers (ostrich, chandelle, marabou), and rhinestones from three European countries. With this inventory, we can create hundreds of stage-ready costumes without needing newly imported materials.

Special Deals on In-Stock Fabrics

Rather than letting these materials sit unused, we pass the savings on to our customers! When you order a ContenderWear or Plain Brown Label Custom Costume, we prioritize using in-stock fabrics at a discount. We also sell excess materials by the yard, though we don’t always list them online—so just ask!

Ordering Specific Colors & New Materials

Want a specific color or material that isn’t in our inventory? You’re still in control. We order based on manufacturer color charts, but keep in mind that newly imported fabrics may reflect price increases due to tariffs. If you choose to go this route, we’ll be upfront about any adjustments to your invoice.

What’s Next for Pricing?

For now, our on-line sample quotes will remain unchanged. Because we’ve stocked untariffed goods ahead of time, we can keep many prices steady. As always, our line-item invoicing reflects the cost of materials—so working with on-hand inventory is the best way to avoid price bumps!
